About the role
Reporting directly to the Event Communications Manager, the Audio & Communications Technician is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of assigned audio and communications projects and dry hires, as well as providing assistance to field-based Engineers.
Working closely with the Assets & Logistics and Warehouse teams you will ensure that all stakeholder needs and requests are fulfilled. This includes but is not limited to: sourcing, maintenance, preparation and programming of audio and communications equipment and providing technical and communications support where necessary.
You are a team player who thrives in a busy and creative environment, and not afraid to pitch in with the team to deliver world class quality broadcast solutions. This is a full-time role based primarily at our Mascot warehouse.
What you'll be responsible for
* Assist the Assets & Logistics and Warehouse teams in the management of assets including the preparation and programming of equipment and system documentation.
* Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure all technical information is distributed efficiently.
* Ensure all assets are accurately recorded and tracked within the asset management system, including the use of appropriate tools to monitor asset allocation for upcoming projects.
* Work with the Engineering team to make improvements of our cabling, packaging and engineering solutions.
* Conduct regular checks on equipment to ensure quality, working condition and presentation is maintained at all times. This includes testing, fault finding and coordinating equipment repairs.
* General warehouse and ad hoc duties where necessary, including the movement and return of equipment following project completion and ensuring any faulty equipment is removed from circulation and logged in the Gravity Media repairs database.
* Develop a close working relationship with all stakeholders, responding to all enquiries within a reasonable timeframe, ensuring strong lines of communication and fostering a reputation for professionalism and service for yourself and the Company.
* Prepare, program, configure and test audio and communications equipment in accordance with project and dry hire requirements.
* Maintain allocation of assets and tracking of stock via barcode scanning before and after equipment is deployed.
* Conduct regular stocktake of equipment both at the warehouse and on site where required.
* Maintain the cleanliness of the warehouse environment and equipment storage space.
* Build strong partnerships with all key stakeholders including management and staff.
* Carry out any other ad hoc duties, as required.
* Provide on-site project assistance as required from time to time.
About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented technician with a solid foundation in event communications systems. You value teamwork, professionalism, and technical excellence and take pride in delivering under pressure.
* Minimum of 1–2 years experience in event communications with hands on experience using industry standard audio and communication systems and technologies.
* Understanding of broadcast environments and live production workflows.
* Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Software Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Current NSW driver's license is preferable.
* Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with different departments under tight deadlines.
