Due to continued growth and increasing demand from their customers, an opportunity has become available for a Lead Control Systems Engineer to join their expanding Sydney team. This is a permanent position based in Sydney, with the successful candidate primarily supporting major Greenfield Data Centre projects. The organisation is delivering large-scale automation solutions for some of Australia's most significant Data Centre developments, with Ignition SCADA forming a key part of the technology stack. The Position As a Lead Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of automation and control systems projects from concept through to commissioning. Whilst remaining hands-on from a technical perspective, you will also take ownership of client engagement activities, stakeholder management and technical leadership throughout project delivery. Your responsibilities will include: Leading the technical delivery of control systems projects from concept through to commissioning Acting as the primary engineering point of contact for clients and project stakeholders Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients throughout project delivery Managing stakeholder expectations and providing technical guidance and project updates Designing and developing PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions for major Greenfield Data Centre projects Supporting the full control systems project lifecycle, including functional design, testing and commissioning Coordinating engineering activities and supporting the successful delivery of project outcomes Providing technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineering team members Reviewing engineering deliverables and ensuring technical quality standards are maintained Supporting factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing and commissioning activities Identifying technical risks and developing effective solutions to address project challenges This position would suit an experienced Senior or Lead Control Systems Engineer who enjoys combining technical delivery with stakeholder engagement and client-facing responsibilities. You will be comfortable leading technical discussions, managing client expectations and driving successful project outcomes whilst remaining actively involved in engineering activities. Your Experience To be considered for this position, you will possess: A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computing, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or similar Strong experience delivering industrial automation and control systems projects Demonstrated experience leading the technical delivery of projects High-level competence with PLC, SCADA and HMI technologies Experience with Ignition SCADA is highly desirable but not essential Experience with Schneider, Siemens, Rockwell or similar PLC platforms Strong stakeholder management and client-facing capabilities Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring engineers or coordinating technical resources Solid understanding of the complete control systems project lifecycle Excellent verbal and written communication skills What’s On Offer Permanent position with a growing automation organisation Opportunity to lead major Greenfield Data Centre projects across Sydney Exposure to Ignition SCADA and leading-edge automation technologies Significant client engagement and technical leadership responsibilities Competitive salary package based on experience Strong long-term career development opportunities within a growing national business Interviews are taking place immediately.
