Bejo Australia, through its subsidiary Tasmanian Pollination Services is seeking an experienced beekeeper and natural leader to join our passionate and growing team in Tasmania. With operations based in Richmond and the Derwent Valley, this role plays a key part in supporting seed crop pollination and apiary operations within a leading international vegetable seed company.

This is a hands-on leadership role working alongside skilled teams across our Tasmanian sites, supporting both operational delivery and team development. The position is based on a 40-hour week, with night and weekend work required during peak seasons.

There is also an opportunity to be involved with our apiary research team at the forefront of bee genetic improvement, including instrumental insemination in preparation for a Tasmanian Varroa incursion. Tasmania currently remains Varroa-free. This may also include additional hive management within our nucleus apiary, testing top genetics in a commercial environment.

Your new role

Day-to-day duties are varied and include:

* Planning and coordinating hive movements and pollination services across Bejo crops in line with seasonal requirements

* Working closely with field teams to ensure hives are placed, managed, and performing well during pollination periods

* Managing hives, equipment, and team resources across sites to support strong colony health and effective pollination outcomes

* Carrying out regular hive inspections, including bee health, brood patterns, feed levels, and overall hive condition

* Monitoring apiary sites, equipment, and crop areas to maintain high standards of biosecurity, hygiene, and operational efficiency

* Supporting and coordinating weekly work plans for hive checks, movements, and apiary maintenance

* Assisting and guiding apiary staff with day-to-day beekeeping tasks including hive splits, feeding, treatments, and general hive management

* Keeping accurate records of hive numbers, health, site performance, and operational activities

* Training and supporting staff in safe and effective beekeeping practices and equipment use

* Leading and motivating the apiary team to work safely, efficiently, and deliver strong pollination outcomes

To be successful in this role you will:

* Have a solid understanding of practical beekeeping and hive management, or a strong willingness to learn

* Have experience working with bees in a commercial beekeeping operation (highly desirable)

* Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and travelling between sites

* Be confident leading in the field and guiding team members during busy periods

* Be self-motivated, hands-on, and able to work both independently and as part of a team

* Be physically capable of lifting and working with hives and equipment

* Hold, or be willing to obtain, a truck licence, forklift licence, chainsaw ticket, and first aid certificate
