Team Description

Over the years at Dropbox, Emerging Talent has created a variety of internships, apprenticeships, and early-in-career full-time opportunities to build pathways for exceptional early-career professionals to succeed at Dropbox. Supported by a community of mentors, program graduates, and fellow participants, their Emerging Talent programs are the perfect place to start your career in tech.

Please note :

* This application is exclusively for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 graduates.
* The Software Engineering Intern application for Fall 2026 and 2027 graduates will open this December.

Role Description

* As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside seasoned professionals, diving deep into real-world challenges and pioneering solutions that impact millions.
* With a focus on the future of collaboration, you'll have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that define the next chapter of Dropbox.
* In their Virtual First work culture, you’ll connect with Dropboxers virtually and in person to build the foundation of a strong professional network.
* As a Summer intern, you will also have the opportunity to attend their Emerging Talent Summit, where participants from their intern and early-career programs come together in person to build lasting relationships, explore learning and development opportunities, and prepare for their career journey ahead.

For Summer 2025, they offer two start dates culminating in a 12-week internship:

* 5/27 - 8/15
* 6/24 - 9/12


Responsibilities

* Innovative Development
o Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and deploy next-gen features for Dropbox's suite of products.
* Agile Learning
o Immerse yourself in rapid prototyping, and iterative development, and harness the power of structured feedback from your host team.
* User-Centric Focus
o Ensure solutions are designed with the end-user in mind, emphasizing usability and intuitive design.
* Tech Exploration
o Participate in tech talks, and professional development workshops, to explore new technologies and tools.


Teams and Projects

You play an active part in the team matching process. Prior to the final round of technical interviews, they will send you an in-depth survey to understand your interests and strengths. These criteria as well as current business needs and your location are all factors they consider to match you closely with a host team.

* Product Engineering
o Product Engineers thrive working across technologies and codebases and are also involved in various product development cycle stages.
o Along the way they represent user needs through close partnerships with product, design, and user research.
o In this role, you will deliver best-in-breed software by building robust systems that power optimized user experiences on marquee projects like Dropbox Paper, Transfer, or Family.
* New Initiatives
o Dropbox is exploring 0→1 opportunities and building new products that will make a difference in the lives of Dropbox customers and employees.
o Ideally, you are at your best when you are in fast-paced and startup-like teams, building customer-facing products and having a deep curiosity that leads you to build side projects of your own.
* Infrastructure Engineering
o The Infrastructure Engineering team designs products on a vast scale.
o They craft components for millions of connections, oversee billions of files, and manage hundreds of petabytes of data.
o Their rigorous approach addresses edge cases and errors.
o Through refined code and thorough testing, they prioritize data integrity and security.
* Customer Experience (CX)
o The CX Technology team enhances the business through innovative technology.
o You'll convert their service strategy into tools for customers and agents, advancing technical support capabilities.
o Your role simplifies problem-solving for their team, refines user interaction on their support site, integrates ticketing with internal systems, promotes secure development, and creates self-help tools for users.
* Mobile Engineering
o Their mobile team builds products and features that drive the core experience on the Dropbox mobile application.
o They enable users to easily manage their content, collaborate with their peers, and work effortlessly with others.
o This position will play a key role in building and supporting mobile features.
* Security Engineering
o People trust Dropbox to keep their data secure, and at Dropbox, they rely on their security engineers to make their products safe.
o You are a software engineer with a deep interest in building software that is secure yet easy to use.
o Security engineers collaborate with product teams to secure their software, production infrastructure, website, desktop and mobile apps, and their corporate infrastructure and devices.


About you


Requirements

* Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), graduating in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026
* Experience writing or shipping software as part of the coursework, personal projects, internships, coding competitions, or research
* Passion for learning, solving problems, and challenging the status quo
* Available for Summer 2025 full-time internship (40 hours per week / 12 weeks)


Compensation & benefits

The expected monthly rate for this role is $8,000—$9,500.

Career progression

During your internship, you are placed on a team and paired with a mentor who designs a project that is both meaningful and impactful to the business and the student’s growth and development. At the end of the 12-week internship, you will have a chance to be offered an extension internship or full-time based on your performance.
