CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.

About the Role
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Nurse is a health professional working in the area of alcohol and other drugs. AOD nurses facilitate people in their recovery from addiction to alcohol or illicit drugs. The role often involves a holistic approach, taking into consideration the person's mental and physical health as well as psycho-social factors.
The role includes assessment and management of clients using nursing knowledge and skills and may include, but is not limited to, the direct referral of patients to other health care professionals,
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Nurse also works closely with other AOD service streams (e.g. Intake and Assessment, Counselling, Care & Recovery Coordination, Residential and Non-Residential Withdrawal) as well as related sectors to provide an integrated catchment wide service response.
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Nurse will support the CGH Emergency Department, acute and outpatient services when clients present with a drug or alcohol issue that require assessment and treatment and coordination of pathways through the episode of care journey and onward into existing Community based Alcohol & Drug Services.
Duties
* Provide comprehensive knowledge, clinical expertise, and assessment skills to make clinical decisions
* Provide Monday to Friday inpatient management of AOD withdrawal beds in liaison with the medical ward
* Support and develop the education of ward nursing teams.
* Long Acting Injectable Buprenorphine injections
* Conduct appropriate referrals, triage cases, and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Registered Nurse holding current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Experience working in the Alcohol and Other Drugs Sector and to have or be willing to work towards a qualification in Alcohol and Other Drug studies.
