Join to apply for the Scheduling & Operations Coordinator - Transport role at Sharp & Carter This position plays a key role in ensuring transport orders are efficiently scheduled, optimised, and executed in line with customer expectations and compliance standards.
About The Role
The Transport Scheduler Optimiser is responsible for managing transport service demands across customer sites. This includes receiving transport orders, optimising routes and loads using a TMS system, allocating to carriers, managing execution, and ensuring timely proof of delivery. The role involves frequent interaction with customers, carriers, and internal teams, and requires sound judgment, strong systems experience, and effective problem-solving capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full transport cycle from order receipt to delivery confirmation Optimise loads, routes, and capacity using internal TMS systems (including OPSI PLATO) Allocate orders to compliant carriers and ensure adherence to operational procedures Monitor and manage exceptions to minimise service risks and delivery delays Maintain accurate master data and ensure all records are current within the system Liaise with both carrier and customer operational teams to ensure seamless execution Conduct safety and compliance checks in line with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) standards Support business continuity planning and participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
Strong background in transport operations, freight scheduling, or logistics coordination Proficiency with transport management systems and optimisation tools High level of accuracy and attention to detail Proven ability to manage fluctuating workloads and maintain composure under pressure Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Sound judgment and analytical thinking when making operational decisions Understanding of Australian road transport regulations and compliance practices
