We are seeking an experienced and qualified A grade Electrician to join our team of technicians at the Wemen Solar Farm in Victoria. Wemen Solar Farm is a single-axis tracking project, located in Victoria, an hour outside of the city of Mildura. The site has an installed capacity of approximately 110MW nominal power, spanning across an area close to 700 acres.
You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of solar PV systems. This is a hands on role ideal for someone passionate about sustainability and clean energy solutions.
As part of the O&M Department this position will be accountable for the following tasks:
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct in-house electrical works associated with preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities for the plant. These activities involve working with:
o Low and high voltage assets.
o AC/DC Cabling.
o Power stations, inverters and MV transformers.
o String / Combiner Boxes / PV Modules.
o Weather stations, security systems and monitoring systems.
o Substation and other connection assets.
o Carry out HV Switching programs for the connection and disconnection of electrical assets.
* Conduct and/or assist with the regular inspections and checks to monitor performance of electrical assets.
* Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on solar systems.
* Preparation, tracking, closing and recording of maintenance work orders.
* Work closely with fellow Electricians and plant technicians, external subcontractors and apprentices with support from the Site Manager.
* Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers on technical aspects of the job.
* Support with warranty claims management.
* Ensure tools and equipment are used correctly and maintained in safe working order.
* Ensure critical spares and consumables are maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
* Health and Safety Compliance.
* Interpret solar system designs, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
* Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and other relevant standards.
* Assist with vegetation control to comply with Energy Safe Victoria and CFA guidelines.
* Other ad hoc duties as required by the Site Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Mandatory:
* Current Australian A-Grade Electrical Licence or equivalent unrestricted licence.
* Qualifications as Electrician in Australia (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician).
* Minimum 2 years' experience as an electrician in Australia.
* Knowledge of preventive and corrective electrical maintenance.
* Experience in managing subcontractors and suppliers.
* White Card (Construction Induction).
* Current Driver's License.
* Experience with Solar PV plants (construction, installation, support).
* Knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical installations.
* High Voltage Switching Operations (training can be provided).
* Knowledge of generation, power transmission and distribution.
* 5+ years' experience in site-based electrical engineering, preferably in renewable energy, power generation, or HV/MV transmission/distribution projects.
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems including transformers, switchgear, HV/MV/LV cables, protection systems, BESS, PV and grid interconnection.
* Experience with electrical–civil interfaces (earthing, conduits, trenching, bunding, etc.).
* Sound understanding of HSE practices and quality management systems.
* Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
* Very organised with a keen eye for detail and strong ability to prioritise and multitask. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
* Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required. Full Time Site Based.
