* Permanent Full Time
* $99,526 per annum plus Superannuation

In this role you will support tthe Risk Management Team in managing claims for compensation, insurance, and business continuity, as well as implementing Council's Risk Management Framework and processes, including (but not limited to) the development and implementation of risk management initiatives, strategies, and practices across the organisation. The Risk Management Officer may also be required to support other areas of the governance function from time to time.

What you'll be doing:

* Assist in the review, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Council's Risk Management Framework to ensure consistent application across Council and the proactive identification and mitigation of risk.
* Develop, implement, and monitor risk management systems, policies, procedures, and strategies in alignment with the Risk Management Framework and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct risk reviews across the organisation to support the effective identification, assessment, and management of strategic and operational risks.
* Develop and deliver risk management training and awareness programs for management, staff, and contractors.
* Maintain Council-wide risk registers and support managers in fulfilling their risk management responsibilities.
* Provide advice and guidance to management and staff on appropriate risk controls and risk management practices.
* Support the development and promotion of a positive risk-aware culture across Council.
* Develop, implement, maintain, and test Council's Business Continuity Plan.
* Provide advice and guidance to the organisation on business continuity planning and preparedness.
* Investigate and assess claims for compensation, in collaboration with relevant departments, submitted to Council and recommend appropriate courses of action, including matters that may result in a financial settlement, to the Risk Management Lead or delegated officer.
* Refer over-excess claims to the relevant/appropriate personnel, with support from the Risk Management Lead.
* Maintaining claims management systems and processes.
* Record and file reports and documents received from departments.
* Assist with the maintenance of Council's insurance portfolio and contracts, liaising with brokers, insurers, and external claims managers.
* Support the annual insurance renewal program, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
* Prepare reports for the Executive and other stakeholders, as required.
* Present reports and updates to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Audit and Risk Committee (ARC), and Council, as required.

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:

* Demonstrated experience in risk management, insurance, business continuity and claims management practices.
* Tertiary qualifications in a Risk Management or related discipline with relevant experience or less formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
* Membership of a Risk Management professional body highly regarded.
* Experience in and knowledge of claims management, including the ability to adapt the approach to handle different types of claims from different sources.
* Knowledge in the implementation of risk management systems, frameworks, methodologies, policies and procedures.
* Experience and ability to analyse information to develop and produce reports
* Knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards relevant to risk management and business continuity.
* Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office suite of programs and database computer systems.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* A current Victorian driver's licence.
