**The Role**
As the Operations Support Supervisor you will contribute to the day to day running of Beecroft Weapons Range and support the Range Control Officer in the delivery of services, imperative to Defence Capabilities in a unique and complex environment. The Operations Support Supervisor will perform business operations functions primarily related, but not limited, to the facilitation and management of public access to Beecroft Weapons Range.
A significant part of the role involves complex stakeholder engagement and as a Defence representative you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders including Defence personnel, contractors, interest groups, the local community and Australian and international visitors. You will coordinate and supervise a small team of Defence Rangers, whose duties include environmental and land management, visitor and stakeholder liaison and educational activities.
The Team is also responsible for the protection of indigenous sites of cultural significance and field based activities such as emergency response management, along with the policing of public compliance with the Defence (Public Area) By-laws. Your day will primarily be office-based consisting of administrative duties and responding to public enquiries although on occasion, you will be required to fulfil some of the duties of a Defence Ranger if the need arises.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Operations Training Areas Management (DOTAM), NSW and ACT, within Security and Estate Group (SEG) is looking to fill an ongoing position at Beecroft Weapons Range, also known to the Jerrinja people as 'Bundarwa'.
The integrated Range operations team consists of ADF, APS, Training Area and Range Management (TARM) and internal and external contractors, working collaboratively to achieve Defence capability, manage public access and protect the environment including indigenous and colonial heritage within the Beecroft Peninsula.
The Defence Rangers are a small, close-knit team whose principal role is managing public access including public safety and environmental compliance. They identify safety-related maintenance, respond to issues arising from public areas such as campgrounds, beaches and the lighthouse precinct; and they take charge of public visitors in the event of an emergency incident, such as bush fire. The team is the face of Defence to visitors and the local community accessing the Beecroft Peninsula Public Area.
- They will need to be a self-starter and have the ability to recognise potential issues before they arise.
- They will be energetic and able to create and maintain positive working relationships with key Defence, private industry stakeholders and local traditional custodians.
- They should have strong communication skills and previous supervisory and administrative experience is preferred, along with an understanding of Defence's business and objectives.
- Most importantly, we seek a team-oriented and customer-focused individual with a positive attitude who can show initiative and commit energy and drive towards achieving goals.
