Walz is currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join our Mackay team.

About the role:
This full time HSE Advisory role will primarily support our various projects in the Bowen Basin region west of Mackay. Between project placements, the role will also work out of and support our Mackay fabrication facility and office located in Paget, as well as other local Mackay projects as they arise.
This role is a great opportunity for a Mackay local seeking full-time permanent employment with exposure to a wide variety of construction work. You will drive safety best practice and compliance on each project you support.
Walz performs a wide variety of construction and maintenance projects for the resources sector in the Bowen Basin, and deployment to and placement on projects will be on an as needed basis. Certain projects may require full time support and other projects or sites may only require periodic site visits.
Your project deployments will vary between short- or long-term drive in drive out placements, and there may also be a need to work away on a fly in fly out basis when relevant projects arise.
This role will primarily report to the HSE Manager and will closely support the Mackay General Manager and Project Managers to achieve project safety and training outcomes.
You will be responsible for:
* Performing field-based safety interactions and inspections
* Performing field and desktop audits against Walz Group and client procedures and systems requirements
* Providing expert guidance and advice for improvement wherever possible
· Interacting and consulting with workers, supervisors and management to develop strategies to achieve safe work outcomes
* Performing investigation on incidents and assisting Operations to implement adequate corrective actions
* Supporting injured workers through the rehabilitation process
· Contributing to pre-start and toolbox meetings
· Leading or facilitating project risk assessments as required
· Providing on-site support and expertise for all HSE matters
· Providing administrative support on the development and review of Walz procedures, training programs and documentation
About You:
* A demonstrated history as a health and safety practitioner in the construction and/or resources industries is essential
* Cert IV WHS (minimum)
* ICAM qualification or equivalent (beneficial)
* Experience with Rehabilitation and Return to Work coordination (beneficial)
* Experience with major contractor onboarding systems (beneficial)
* Strong computer skills in the development and review of HSE planning and procedural documentation
