About the Position

The Retail Supervisor at Sushi Hub Gateway will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the takeaway retail outlet to ensure efficiency, quality service, and customer satisfaction. The role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a focus on maintaining high operational standards.

This position reports directly to the Business Owner.

Tasks and Responsibilities

* Making sure every customer is greeted politely, served quickly, and receives fresh, high-quality sushi products.
* Handling customer questions, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely way to maintain a positive customer experience.
* Assisting in preparing shift schedules, allocating tasks during daily operations, and monitoring team performance to keep the store running efficiently.
* Taking part in staff recruitment activities, including interviewing and onboard new employees, conducting training, reviewing staff performance, recommending promotions, managing dismissals when necessary, and resolving workplace issues or grievances fairly.
* Coaching team members on how to deal with complex service situations, such as customised orders, high-volume peak periods, or customer complaints.
* Checking any returned or unsatisfactory products and arranging replacements or refunds in line with store policy.
* Keeping track of ingredients and packaging stock levels, conducting stock takes, and ensuring timely ordering so supplies do not run short.
* Overseeing the accuracy of product pricing, clear labelling, and attractive display of takeaway sushi items to meet company standards and encourage sales.
* Enforcing hygiene, food safety, and workplace safety practices to protect customers, staff, and store property.

Qualifications, education, experience and abilities required:

* A minimum of a Certificate III (or higher) in Business, Business Management, Hospitality Management or related discipline.
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (Compulsory)

Experience requirements

* A minimum of 1 year of retail supervisory or management experience within the hospitality industry.
* In the absence of a formal qualification, at least 2 years of full-time relevant experience is required.

Essential Skills

* Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including recruitment, staff training, rostering, performance supervision, and conflict resolution.
* Sound knowledge of retail operations in a hospitality environment, including stock control, point-of-sale systems, and customer service processes.
* Proven ability to monitor sales performance, analyse trends, manage budgets, and apply cost-control measures effectively.
* Strong customer service and communication abilities, with the capacity to resolve issues and maintain high customer satisfaction in a fast-paced setting.
* Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements applicable to retail food outlets.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills to ensure smooth daily operations and efficient service delivery.
* Ability to contribute to marketing and promotional activities to drive sales growth and build customer loyalty.

Hours:

The employee's ordinary hours of work will be 38 hours per week, scheduled across weekdays and weekends as required, inclusive of meal and refreshment breaks in accordance with the Fair Work Act.

Pay: Up to $70,148.00 per year
