Job Description:
This is a permanent position within the Mental Health Department, in a community-based mental health team based in St Albans. The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide direct clinical care informed by the latest evidence base, to consumers with complex mental health problems referred for assessments and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing direct clinical care to consumers with complex mental health problems.
* Clinical governance to the care provided by the multidisciplinary team.
* Providing training and supervision to junior medical staff from the RANZCP and/or RACP training programs.
* Participating in clinical quality improvement activities in the department.
Requirements:
* Registration as a medical practitioner and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification.
* Extensive experience in working in the mental health sector and sound knowledge of the relevant legislation pertaining to Mental Health.
* Excellent clinical skills and a commitment to professional development.
* Completion of accredited postgraduate training in child and adolescent psychiatry.
* Accreditation as an RANZCP Supervisor.
* An interest in teaching and research with publications in refereed journals in the field of mental health.
