GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs responsible administrative and programmatic support work in developing, coordinating, and implementing the City's social services programs to ensure effective service delivery to residents.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Social Services Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the City's social services programs by maintaining program data, assisting with service delivery, and providing administrative and customer service support. Programs supported include, but are not limited to:
* NoMi Food Pantry
* Leaders in Training (LIT) Program
* Youth Opportunity Board (YOB)
* Community-Based Organization (CBO) Initiatives
* Any other programs that may be implemented by the Division
Essential Job Functions
Administrative Support
* Responds to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints; directs to the appropriate party if necessary.
* Drafts and sends correspondence, schedules appointments, manages calendars, and follows up as needed.
* Enters and maintains program participant information in databases.
* Processes confidential documents and forms such as invoices, requisitions, program applications, and work orders. Tracks the process and ensures timely approval and payment of invoices.
* Collects and prepares data for reports and provides in timely manner to management.
* Provides world class customer service and acts as a liaison between the public and department.
* Assists callers with navigating City websites and systems.
* Maintains office efficiency through meeting coordination and file organization.
Program Support & Service Delivery
* Supports set-up, preparation, and clean-up for events and activities across social services programs.
* Assists with food pantry operations, including reception, packaging, stocking, organizing, and distribution.
* Attends events such as field trips and community gatherings as needed.
* Evaluates applicants and verifies eligibility for programs (e.g., food pantry, senior program).
* Ensures necessary supplies are always stocked and places approved orders.
* Compiles and maintains documentation for participant case files, including attendance and incident reports.
Other Duties
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
* Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field OR
* Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Language Skills
* Proficiency in English required. Spanish and/or Creole proficiency is preferred.

* Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (especially PowerPoint); database experience preferred.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to provide courteous, professional service to diverse populations.
* Understanding of ethical conduct and confidentiality in line with City, County, and State policies.
* Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical labor for extended periods.
* Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
* Comfortable facilitating food service activities while observing basic hygiene standards.
* Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures.
