Mine Planning Engineer
Tethra is partnering with a well-established gold producer operating in Western Australia, currently expanding its underground footprint with multiple new mining areas scheduled to come online over the next 12–18 months. This presents a rare opportunity to contribute to complex planning in a highly remnant underground environment — ideal for engineers who thrive on challenge, collaboration, and impact.
We're seeking a Planning Engineer to support short-term development design, regional evaluations, and scheduling. You'll work closely with geology, geotech, and production teams to ensure plans are robust, executable, and aligned with operational targets.
This role is offered on an 8/6 roster. FIFO From Perth.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with senior engineers to ensure all plans are delivered to Operations team which are practical and executable.
* Communicate the mine production plans to all relevant personnel to foster awareness of targets and directions for the Mining Operation.
* Incorporate feedback across all horizons of the operation into the designs.
* Liaise with all aspects of operations to ensure communication of production plans
* Assist with End of Month operational Reporting and reconciliations
* Ensure the drill and blast procedures are up to date and provide optimum balance between safe and economical Production.
* Carry out project work under the direction of the Planning Superintendent/Senior Engineers.
* Ensure the geological and survey departments are informed of the operation's requirements and priorities towards drill and blast.
* Knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
* Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver's License.
* Proven relevant experience in underground mining operations
* National Police Clearance
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical
* Underground production and planning experience in hard-rock mining.
* Demonstrated expertise across all planning processes (long to short term).
* Strong skills in mine design (development and production).
* Proficiency with Deswik software suite.
Preferred:
* Extensive experience in underground mining operations.
* Previous management and statutory leadership experience.
* Strong leadership and communication skills at all levels.
* Analytical mindset with excellent reporting abilities.
* High-level planning skills and attention to detail.
* First Class Mine Manager's Ticket (desirable).
