Mercy Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.

About the opportunity
Reporting to the Mercy Health Director of Psychology and supported by the Principal Psychology Educator, the Grade 4 Psychology Educator is responsible for coordination and delivery of the Psychology Registrar Program. This includes promotion of the program, recruitment, orientation, supervision, and the planning, delivery and evaluation of professional development to ensure alignment with organisational priorities, service needs and the developmental requirements of the psychology registrars.
The Psychology Educator (P4) plays a key role in supporting psychology registrars to develop the knowledge, skills and professional attributes required to deliver recovery-oriented, person-centred care. The position is responsible for implementing a structured learning program and ensuring that clinical supervision and training meet the competency requirements for area of practice endorsement. Alongside other clinical educators, the Psychology Educator will contribute their expertise to the broader Mercy Mental Health and Wellbeing Service multidisciplinary education and workforce agenda.

Responsible for oversight, planning, development and implementation of the Psychology Registrar Program.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
A minimum of a Master's Degree in Psychology in an APAC accredited postgraduate course.
Current full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist, with Area of Practice Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
Senior Psychologist with at least 10 years' post full registration experience.
Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) approved Supervisor status for Registrar and Higher Degree supervision, with substantial experience in clinical supervision and knowledge of psychology registrar program requirements.
Expertise and passion for Psychology, preferably with experience across a range of public health services.
Strong knowledge of the discipline, including advanced and up-to-date knowledge and skills in diagnosis, case formulation, risk assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based psychological interventions for acute, severe and complex mental health presentations.
Skills and experience in education, group facilitation, and service development.
Commitment to working within a recovery-oriented framework, with a compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective consumer care.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to adapt, problem solve and prioritise.
Demonstrated ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships with a diverse range of people, and contribute to an innovative, collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.
Participation in individual supervision and active commitment to professional development, as per the registration requirements of the Psychology Board of Australia.
A current Victoria Driver's Licence, with ability to drive a work vehicle and willingness to travel between work sites.
Desirable:
Completion of, or progress towards, an Education Qualification (e.g. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Graduate Certificate in Education), or an additional formal qualification in health service management and/or leadership.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
