Great lakes Womens Shelter Op Shop Manager Opportunity: Make a real difference!
Great Lakes Womens Shelter (GLWS), a community-led organisation supporting women and children facing domestic violence and homelessness.

We are embarking on a new initiative for our Shelter Fundraising strategy, and we are opening an Op Shop to support our fundraising goals and to provide affordable household and basic items to families in the Great Lakes, while reducing the local impact on waste and landfill.
About the Role:
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and lead with heart in our brand new community Op Shop
This is an exciting opportunity to use your retail expertise to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Responsibilities:
Store Operations:
- Create a protected, welcoming space where every purchase supports a woman’s fresh start, including merchandising, stock management, and maintaining a trauma-informed environment.
Team Leadership:
- Recruiting, training, and mentoring a team of dedicated volunteers.
Customer Engagement:
- Providing excellent customer service, building customer loyalty, and managing diverse customer interactions.
Sales & Targets:
- Fuel life-changing programs through every item sold.
Inventory Management:
- Efficiently processing and preparing donated goods for sale.
Financial Management:
- Accurately handling cash, managing point-of-sale systems, and maintaining financial records.
About you:
- Retail Experience: Proven experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a cohesive team of volunteers.
- Passion for the Cause: A genuine commitment to our organisation's mission and the principles of charity retail.
- Customer Service Focus: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach to customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Operational Skills: Strong organisational skills and experience in cash handling and point-of-sale systems.
- Working With Children Check: A current Working With Children Check or the willingness to obtain one.
- National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR or willingness to complete prior to employment
