Our global Mining Advisory and Engineering teams bring together experts in metallurgy, process engineering, project delivery, operations, and due diligence to provide high impact‐, commercially grounded technical advice for major resource and infrastructure projects.We are seeking a **Principal Process Engineer** to join our growing Advisory practice. This senior role blends deep **processing expertise**, **commercial and risk insight**, and **project advisory capability** to support due diligence, Independent Technical Engineer assignments, technical studies, and Lenders advisory activities. You will work on high value projects across a wide range of commodities and processes, geographies, and developmental stages, contributing to SLR's reputation for delivering premium, investment and critical technical advice.This is a senior, client facing position with significant autonomy, influence, and visibility across major mining and minerals‐ processing investments.**Key Responsibilities****1. Technical Due Diligence & Independent Technical Reviews*** Lead assessments of metallurgical test work, flowsheets, process design criteria, plant configuration, mass, water and energy balances, equipment selection and sizing, recoveries and product grades, production schedules, including ramp-up, CAPEX/OPEX, operability, Financial Model inputs and technical risks.* Conduct Independent Technical Reviews, high level‐ due diligence assignments, and advisory mandates for studies, operations, and project development pathways.* Evaluate processing plant performance, bottlenecks, availability modelling, and infrastructure interfaces.* Provide expert guidance to multidisciplinary teams working on resource/reserve estimates, mining studies, and financial models.**2. Studies, Engineering Inputs & Technical Leadership*** Lead or contribute to Conceptual/Scoping, PFS, and FS and DFS studies, including definition, design input, and test work program development.* Prepare or review metallurgical balances, process design criteria, mass/energy balances, equipment selection and sizing and capital and operating cost estimates.* Provide technical sign-off for governance statements (e.g., JORC, NI43‐-101, SK-1300‐) where qualified.**3. Project Assurance & Construction Monitoring*** Be integral in the development of practical and performance completion test requirements.* Undertake site visits to assess process plant construction, QA/QC, commissioning readiness, schedule integrity, and contractor performance.* Monitor progress, review variances, and assess readiness for ramp-up‐ and operations.* Prepare clear, risk-focused‐ reporting for clients, boards, and investment stakeholders.**4. Client Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement*** Serve as a senior client interface, building trusted advisor relationships and presenting findings to executives and technical committees.* Communicate, both verbally and in technical report writing, complex technical and commercial issues with clarity and authority.* Manage expectations, ensure "no surprises" delivery, and maintain‐ high client satisfaction.**5. Business Development & Practice Growth*** Support proposal development, scoping, budgeting, and pursuit of technical advisory work.* Identify opportunities for SLR to add value across processing, engineering, and project assurance domains.* Mentor emerging process engineers and contribute to building internal capability and methodologies.**6. Professional Standards & Corporate Contribution*** Uphold SLR's and the Advisory division's high standards of technical excellence, integrity, and professional conduct.* Support cross d‐isciplinary collaboration and knowledge transfer across global teams.* Complete administrative requirements (time recording, QA processes, internal reporting).**Skills & Experience****Qualifications*** Degree in **Metallurgical, Chemical, Process Engineering**, or equivalent technical discipline.* Chartered/Professional Engineer status (CPEng, RPEQ, or international equivalent) is highly regarded.* Eligible for or holding Competent/Qualified Person status for relevant commodities/processes is an advantage.**Professional Experience*** 15–20+ years in mineral processing, hydrometallurgical, concentrator operations, process design, or project engineering.* Experience in key commodities such as base and precious metals and critical minerals would be highly regarded.* Demonstrated experience across multiple project study phases (Concept, PFS, FS) and operational environments.* Strong exposure to due diligence, Independent Technical Reviews, project development, and project assurance activities.* Broad understanding of capital project delivery, commissioning, operating strategies, and commercial drivers.**Capabilities & Attributes*** Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, challenge assumptions, and form defensible technical positions.* Excellent communication, technical writing, and client presentation capability.* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.* Strong relationship building‐, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring capability.* Willingness to travel for site visits and project reviews.* Financial acumen with an ability to review and interpret financial models.**Our Benefits**We are proud of our unique culture where we work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
