COOK – MAREEBA KIDS CAMPUS

The Role
This is a permanent full-time role 38 hours per week, Monday -Friday. We are looking for someone who is passionate about cooking and is looking to commit to a long-term position. We value the importance of children's health and nutrition and are looking for a cook with the same values who enjoys cooking for children and who can share their knowledge of nutrition with the children. To succeed in this role, you will be a good communicator, well-organised, friendly, adaptive and creative. You will have knowledge and awareness of nutrition, food handling and hygiene, food allergies and intolerances, and menu planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop a rotating menu, in accordance with the Centre's nutrition policy guidelines and the Healthy Eating Advisory Service for all children, including children with allergies and intolerances.
* Provide a variety of nutritious foods that are suitable for children aged three months to five years
* Complete weekly ordering as per current menu
* Ensure a high level of health & safety standards are maintained at all times
* Have good time management skills and be confident in managing a kitchen
* Ensure the kitchen and appliances are well looked after at all times
* Interact with children, educators and families in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner at all times.
* Ensure presentation of food is appealing and exciting for children
* Support the development and maintenance of the food safety plan and program
* Follow procedure regarding food preparation and production duties and adhere to daily menu plans.
Essential Requirements
* Experience in an early childhood environment in a similar capacity (preferred)
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Able to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision
* Able to stand for extended periods of time
* High level of attention-to-detail
* Good organisational abilities
* Positive and approachable manner
* Ability to follow direction, policies and procedures
* Strong Work Health and Safety focus
* Flexible approach and attitude
* Team player
* Genuine interest and care for working within an early learning facility
* Current Working with Children Check issued by Blue Card Services, Department of Justice and Attorney-General
* A certificate in Food Handling
* Food Safety Supervisor certificate
* A current certificate in First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma (or be willing to obtain)
