Exciting opportunity to provide leadership across a diverse Risk portfolio Full-time role located in Camperdown, Sydney Offering a competitive remuneration package including 17% Superannuation About the opportunity The Associate Director, Risk Strategy and Advisory, plays a strategic and influential role in shaping the University's enterprise risk and resilience landscape. This role provides senior-level expertise and thought leadership in the development, implementation, and continual enhancement of the University’s risk management and organisational resilience frameworks. The incumbent is responsible for owning key enterprise-level frameworks and governance artefacts, leading university-wide risk initiatives, advising senior executives on complex risk matters, and driving the integration of risk-informed thinking into strategic planning, performance management, and critical decision-making. The role leads high-impact risk programs, enterprise-wide risk identification efforts, and organisational resilience capability uplift, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic direction, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite. This role is therefore frequently required to engage with Heads of Portfolios, Pro-Vice Chancellors, Deans, Faculty General Managers, Heads of School and Deans and other senior staff of the University on behalf of the Chief Risk Officer and will often be contacted by them for advice and support. Your key responsibilities will be to: lead the risk management team in continuously improving and implementing the Risk Management Strategy, risk management related initiatives and risk management services lead the continuous development and improvement of the University’s enterprise risk management and organisational resilience frameworks build and maintain effective working relationships and strong rapport with key stakeholders to proactively influence compliance to Risk Management and Organisational resilience Frameworks and build University risk culture maturity continuously improve, implement and manage risk exposure measurement and monitoring continuously improve, implement, and analyse risk insights arising from the amalgamation of the risk management team’s work lead and manage the drafting of risk management reports to University Executive and Senate drive and track portfolio efficiencies identify and deliver specific Risk Management Projects provide strategic advice to the Chief Risk Officer and other team members on risk related insights. Your skills and experience: extensive experience in managing and delivering a program of work in risk management or related field experience applying business resilience and risk assessment techniques excellent business acumen and strategic thinking skills together with effective leadership and people management skills proven experience in leading teams to continuously improve team strategy, delivery and influence culture across an organisation. proven experience in data analysis, program tracking and reporting. strong knowledge of the field of risk management services and organisational resilience including planning and design of risk plans/processes that support organisational effectiveness effective management of a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with industry providers ideally Postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience in management and business administration or relevant technical domain, and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Flexible and Resourceful : Comfortable adjusting strategies in response to rapid change or emerging risks and can “bring order to chaos” while maintaining strategic focus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. Term and remuneration This role is full-time. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
