The Data Centre Community is looking for a Data Centre Operations (DCO) Cluster Manager
Data Centre Operations Cluster Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data centre environment. In this role, you will lead a large organization and manage managers who own data centre infrastructure, including the operational availability of network and server systems at scale.

At this level, Amazon seeks experienced senior leaders who have evolved to be highly strategic and who can also lead large teams by example, rolling up their sleeves when tactical needs arise. The ideal candidate understands data centre IT infrastructure and Amazon Web Services and how the two coexist.
Key job responsibilities
* Lead and supervise a team of Data Centre Managers (3–9 area and front-line managers) and 50–100 employees within Regional Data Centres
* Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals; owning the performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data centre operations
* Carry out managerial and leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures
* Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs
* Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe
* Obsess over team learning and development, both technical/functional and soft skill development, including mentoring and training
* Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team including data centre managers and data centre operations technicians
* Plan and execute the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data centre build-outs, new colocation build-outs, AWS data centre expansions, and colocation expansions, including the network and server rack infrastructure to facilitate daily operations
* Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific tasks, balancing internal skillsets with frugality
* Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools
A day in the life
There is no typical day. The business changes constantly, so the role involves helping smooth out change cycles. You will work with global partners and manage local leaders, spending time between both spaces daily. Flexibility to understand what is most important at the moment and flex in and out of meetings is essential.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field; or experience managing teams
* 7+ years of team management experience
* 5+ years of operations management experience
* 4+ years of professional work experience, or experience in technical work related to computer systems and technology components
* Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with six sigma tools and Lean techniques
* Experience in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans
* Experience developing and managing a high-performing team
* Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles and techniques
* Network & Hardware Systems: knowledge of network scaling and hardware systems
* Server & Storage Technologies: deep understanding of server and storage technologies
* Knowledge of MEP Infrastructure: data centre MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Infrastructure including Power, Cooling & Facilities Management
* Process Improvement: knowledge of data centre operations, processes and continuous process improvement
* Large-Scale Services: experience managing large-scale technological services
