Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is northwest Victoria's leading service provider for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As a proud Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) with a long history of delivering sustainable, grassroots services and providing the local community with a vehicle for self-determination, MDAS delivers health and wellbeing support services to communities based across the Mallee District.
The Role:
As a key member of the Executive Management team and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your remit is to assume a strategic role in overall financial management of the organisation. You will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling the organisation's financial activities. This will include but is not limited to direct responsibility for accounting, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, strategic planning, legal taxation and financial compliance and risk management. You will also engage directly with the Board and Finance and Risk Committee, presenting financial reports and analyses to inform strategic decisions. You will have direct responsibility for the budgetary development and financial governance of MDAS.
What You Bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in business management, financial management or legal discipline
* CA or CPA qualified
* Experience either in a not-for-profit Aboriginal or other regional community-based organisation
* A strong affinity with and respect for cultural diversity
* An appreciation for the value your employees bring to the team
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills, especially in cross-cultural contexts
* Experience leading annual reporting and planning cycles
* Excellent accounting skills, including understanding finance systems and standardised processes, with good financial modelling skills
* MS Office skills, including financial software
* High level of strategic planning, organisational and leadership skills
* Ability to set goals and deliver outcomes in a logical and efficient manner
* Ability to influence when recommending a course of action
* A current Drivers Licence that allows you to drive in Australia
* A current Employee Working with Children Check card
* A current National Police Check.
