About the Role The Senior Program Advisor leads the delivery of departmental programs and initiatives. This involves providing guidance and strategic support throughout the program lifecycle, as well as ensuring alignment with objectives in the local work area and whole-of-government priorities and policies. The Multicultural and Refugee Support Unit has responsibility for supporting schools with students of refugee background and delivering initiatives promoting multicultural inclusion access and equity in schools. The unit's work includes: * Managing refugee education supports for students and related programs/contracts; * Administering key multicultural education initiatives, such as developing resources supporting cultural diversity, community engagement activities, policy development and advice, and designing and delivering programs supporting a culturally inclusive and respectful school environment; * Providing advice and support to stakeholders regarding multicultural access and equity issues affecting schools and their students, such as needs of refugees and asylum seekers, engaging with parents and families, preventing and addressing racism, and multicultural inclusion; * Supporting and/or engaging with stakeholders on other complimentary tasks or initiatives, including whole-of-government work to support refugee settlement, preventing and addressing racism, anti-vilification protections, early intervention initiatives, and advancing multiculturalism in Victoria. Work type Work may involve developing and leading projects/programs at every stage of the delivery cycle. The role is available for a fixed-term period, until 31 December 2029. Defines the governance (e.g., success measures, roles and responsibilities, progress monitoring) required to manage risks and maximise success. Partnering and Co-creation: Partners with stakeholders to collaborate program design process, to best understand user needs, obtain ideas, insights, and input. Ensures decisions are made within agreed timelines. About the Division Within SEPS, the Statewide Programs and Tech Schools Division (SPaTS) has a central role in ensuring schools can access the programs and supports they need so that all students, including cohorts who may need additional supports, can excel at school. We achieve this by designing and delivering programs, developing operational policy and advice, and providing resources and guidance to schools. Specifically, we deliver programs and resources to: * help all students thrive at schools, for example the Glasses for Kids program and guidance and resources to support the transition from primary to secondary school * help teachers deliver the curriculum, both inside and outside the classroom, in ways that support student learning and wellbeing – through Tech Schools and STEM centres, School Sport Victoria, swimming programs, State Schools Spectacular, the Strategic Partnerships Program and English as an Additional Language resources * support priority cohorts of students, including CALD and refugee students, and rural and regional students.
