PROJECT MANAGER – Implementation of Standard 6: Food and Nutrition (Strengthened Aged Care Standards)

External: Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, Dietitians, Speech Pathologists, Suppliers
Employment Type: Full-time (12 month fixed term)
Position Overview
To lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that ensure compliance with Standard 6:
Food and Nutrition under the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. This role will focus on improving the quality,
enjoyment, and nutritional value of food and dining experiences for residents, ensuring a person-centred and culturally
appropriate approach.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Essential
* Tertiary qualifications in project management, nutrition, hospitality, aged care, or a related field.
* Demonstrated project management experience in health, aged care, or hospitality settings.
* Knowledge of the Strengthened Aged Care Standards, especially Standard 6 – Food and Nutrition.
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver organisational change.
* Experience working with food service systems, menu planning, or nutrition in residential settings.
* Excellent communication, consultation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Strong problem-solving, planning, and evaluation capabilities.
Desirable
* Qualifications or experience in dietetics, aged care catering, or hospitality leadership.
* Experience with accreditation or regulatory compliance in aged care.
* Familiarity with culturally appropriate food service delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Project Planning and Delivery
* Develop and manage a comprehensive implementation plan for Standard 6.
* Establish project timelines, resourcing needs, and reporting frameworks.
* Coordinate cross-departmental involvement (kitchen, clinical, lifestyle, care staff) in delivering project milestones.
Compliance and Standards Alignment
* Conduct a full audit of current food service operations against the strengthened Standard 6.
* Align policies, procedures, and practices with the Standard, with a focus on consumer choice, quality, safety, and cultural preferences.
* Implement evidence-based nutritional guidelines and food safety practices.
Resident Engagement and Co-Design
* Facilitate consultation with residents, families, and representative groups to ensure food and nutrition services reflect preferences, cultural needs, and dietary requirements.
* Introduce or enhance consumer feedback mechanisms on food quality and dining experience.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
* Work closely with catering staff, dietitians, speech pathologists, lifestyle teams, and clinical staff.
* Lead staff education and cultural change initiatives to support a positive food culture in the organisation.
* Engage with external consultants or suppliers where required. Quality Improvement and Evaluation
* Develop metrics and monitoring systems to assess food quality, satisfaction, and nutritional outcomes.
* Implement continuous improvement processes, including resident feedback loops, taste panels, and regular review of menus.
* Prepare progress and outcome reports for internal and external stakeholders, including audit readiness.
Key Performance Indicators
* Successful implementation of Standard 6 across all relevant services.
* Measurable improvements in resident satisfaction with meals and dining experience.
* Documented evidence of consumer engagement in food service planning.
* Staff participation in education and training on nutrition and food safety.
* Audit-readiness and sustained compliance with the strengthened standards.
Occupational Health and Safety
* Perform duties to work in accordance with the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Havilah’s Occupational Health and Safety policies.
* Become familiar with Havilah’s emergency procedures.
* Promote safety awareness in the workplace.
* Report concerns and safety issues to the Director of Care if unable to correct.
* Fill in incident report forms as required and report all incidents to the Director of Care
* Inform the Director of Care of any maintenance required on equipment used in the performance of your work.
To be successful in the role of PROJECT MANAGER – Implementation of Standard 6: Food and Nutrition (Strengthened Aged Care Standards) you will ideally have or willing to obtain:
* Current Police Check, or acknowledge that a police clearance will need to be obtained
* Current Flu Vaccination 2025
* Have a passion for Aged Care
* Have a professional manner and great attitude
* Compliance to OHS and Aged Care legislation
* Able to plan own work to achieve objectives within a set time frame.
* Excellent verbal and written communication & collection skills
* Computer literacy
* Evidence of right to work in Australia
