The Role
We are seeking a Sales Assistant (General) to join our Darwin retail team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role focused on customer service, sales, stock handling, and maintaining store presentation standards.
The role suits someone who enjoys working with customers, can follow procedures accurately, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide friendly and efficient customer service at all times
* Assist customers with product enquiries and purchases
* Operate point-of-sale (POS) and EFTPOS systems
* Process cash and card transactions accurately
* Receive, unpack, and price incoming stock
* Replenish shelves and maintain accurate stock presentation
* Assist with stocktakes and inventory control
* Maintain store cleanliness and presentation standards
* Follow workplace health and safety procedures
* Complete basic administrative tasks as required
* Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members
Essential Criteria
* At least 1 year of experience in a retail, sales, or customer service role
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately
* Basic computer skills and ability to use POS systems
* Reliable, punctual, and well organised
* Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends as required
* Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience working in regional or remote retail environments
* Experience with inventory management or stock control systems
Pre-Employment Requirements
* National Police Check (acceptable outcome)
* Right to work in Australia (or eligibility to participate in an employer-sponsored visa program under DAMA where applicable)
