At the School of Media, Film, and Journalism, located at Monash University's Caulfield campus, we lead in teaching and research on the theoretical, historical, social, and industrial contexts of media and culture. The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) in Journalism to drive excellence in teaching and research within a dynamic, future-oriented academic environment. This position will strengthen the School's leadership in innovative journalism scholarship and education, advancing critical inquiry and creative engagement with global, technological, and societal change.
In this role, you will prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, develop and coordinate units, and supervise honours and higher degree research students. At Level D, you will also lead major research initiatives, guide academic teams, and contribute to strategic and professional leadership within the discipline.
About You
As the successful candidate, you will bring demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development within a tertiary environment, with the proven ability to produce high-quality research and foster productive academic collaborations.
Ideally you will possess expertise in one or more of the following research areas: digital journalism; political communication; misinformation/disinformation; and/or global news production/consumption.
For a Level C appointment
You will demonstrate a strong publication record, success in securing external research funding, and experience in supervising postgraduate research students.
For a Level D appointment
You will show distinction in research leadership, mentorship, and national or international engagement within the discipline. A commitment to advancing scholarly innovation and contributing collegially to the academic community is essential.
