Location:
Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialised Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.
Over 400 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. Site, tools can be monitored using state-of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.
SHTC continues Research & Development investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.
Description & Scope
To support and enhance the software development of Drilling and Measurement applications, there are some possible projects such as the following two standalone applications we would develop:
Automating Software Patch Tracker:
As part of our release process, it’s essential to meticulously track the software patch version along with its contents, including new features and bug fixes. Currently, this tracking is conducted manually by updating an Excel file. To enhance our efficiency and accuracy as we modernize our software, we aim to automate this process. The project will involve establishing a system that retrieves necessary information from Azure DevOps and securely stores it in a database. This will streamline our ability to manage release details effectively. The solution can be developed as either a desktop or a web-based application, allowing for flexibility and ease of use for our team.
Downlink Command Converter:
This project aims to create a stand-alone application that directly retrieves the available downlink commands for a downhole tool (like PowerDrive) from the current Acquisition software system (HSPM) and converts those into a JSON file which is required by the new Drilling operation system (DrillOps). To enhance maintainability and reliability, the application will leverage the existing library developed within our tool support software (ToolScope), which allows for the retrieval of downlink commands associated with specific tools or BHAs (Bottom Hole Assemblies).
The stand-alone software can be designed as either a desktop or a web-based application, providing flexibility in its deployment and usage.
