Your impact
Reporting to the Head, Safety and Sustainability, Africa Asia Pacific, in the position of Director, Health and Safety, Cadia, you will lead a team to execute site-specific plans that align with Newmont's Health and Safety strategies and standards, integrate regulatory, voluntary and organisational requirement targets and commitments, and drive site-specific improvement plans by fostering a culture of excellence in health and safety performance.
As part of our team you will also
* Establish and execute site-specific plans to embed Health and Safety standards, processes, Key Performance Indicators, metrics, objectives and targets
* Coordinate and participate in compliance, assurance and governance activities associated with Health and Safety at site level
* Understand and apply regulatory and Newmont standards for Health and Safety management for the site
* Complete required regulatory reporting, engagements and associated tracking to meet commitments and requirements
* Build and manage regulatory relationships at local level
* Investigate, diagnose and deliver Health and Safety performance trends and site compliance
* Guide the Health and Safety team, define priorities, build capability and foster cross-functional collaboration
* Optimize resources to align with Newmont's Health and Safety standards and ensure alignment with business unit and operational objectives
* Manage regulator relationships, initiate audits and lead compliance with internal and external Health and Safety requirements
* Partner with site leadership to proactively understand and manage health and safety risks, performance and priorities effectively
* Deliver technical support and leadership for operational health and safety risk controls, risk mitigation strategies and event management
* Coordinate and support site level data analysis for regulatory and sustainability reporting
* Ensure internal and regulatory monitoring systems are in place.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
* University Degree qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or related
* Expertise in implementing OHS management systems in a large-scale underground and/or open pit mine operation environment
* Ability to drive and influence adherence to health and safety standards, best practice, monitoring process and regulatory compliance
* Proven health and safety team leadership capability and competent project management skills
* Knowledge of Incident investigations and root cause analysis processes
* Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills including public consultation
* Proficient data analytic skills for monitoring and predicting performance outcomes
* Strong commercial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis, reporting, and presentation of results
* Effective communicator with confidence to articulate long-term vision and short-term accountabilities across diverse stakeholder groups and multi-disciplinary teams
* Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia.
Your work environment
This permanent position will be offered on a drive in, drive out full-time basis from Orange in New South Wales. Domestic relocation assistance to Orange from another Australian location will be considered for the ideal candidate.
Newmont's Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometres from Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
