About the Role
We're currently seeking a skilled and reliable 5 Tonne Excavator Operator to join a growing team based in Melbourne's south-east. This is a hands-on role suited to an operator who takes pride in precision work and is willing to be part of a team both on and off the machine.
You'll be working across a variety of residential, commercial, and civil projects, playing a key role in delivering high-quality outcomes safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate a 5T excavator for:
o Service trenching (stormwater, sewer, electrical, NBN)
o Footings, site cuts, and detailed excavation
o Final trim and finishing work
* Work safely around live underground services
* Assist with backfilling, compaction, and spotting
* Jump off the machine to support general site labour when required
* Read and interpret site plans and levels
* Perform pre-start checks and basic machine maintenance
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised worksite
* Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew
About You
* Valid Excavator Ticket / VOC (RII preferred)
* White Card (essential)
* Current driver's licence and reliable transport
* Proven experience operating 3T–8T excavators (1–3+ years)
* Confident working in tight access environments
* Strong understanding of site safety and service locations
* Reliable, team-focused, and willing to get involved in all aspects of the job
Highly Regarded
* MR/HR Truck Licence
* Civil construction background
* Experience working around underground services
