This is a broad, hands-on generalist role where you’ll play a key part in how we recruit, onboard and retain our people. It’s work that blends structure and care, compliance and connection, and it matters every day.

Whether you’re onboarding a new starter, guiding a manager, or spotting a better way to do something, you bring initiative, sound judgement and a steady presence.

ABOUT US
The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation provides mental health support to young people aged 8–18 who are living in families impacted by mental illness. Through our programs, we create safe, supportive environments where young people can connect with peers, learn about mental health, and build resilience, confidence and a sense of belonging. We operate nationally, with local delivery and a passionate team of staff and volunteers committed to our purpose. Everything we do is grounded in our values of Connection, Commitment, Collaboration and Integrity.

THE ROLE
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative HR team supporting a national not-for-profit. The focus of the role is operational, delivering core HR services across a remote workforce. You’ll coordinate recruitment and onboarding, support managers, maintain accurate records, and help embed consistent, values aligned HR practices.
This is a fully remote role with no central office, giving you flexibility to manage your time, avoid the commute, and better balance work and life. The position is ideally full time however we are open to a part time 0.8 FTE depending on your preference.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Deliver smooth, values aligned recruitment and onboarding that sets people up for success from day one

- Respond to HR queries with clarity and care, supporting both managers and employees

- Assist with conduct, performance and probation processes

- Maintain accurate HR records, compliance logs and dashboards

- Coordinate policy implementation and documentation processes

- Contribute to initiatives that improve connection, wellbeing and recognition

- Help ensure consistent HR practice and award compliance (SCHADS and NES)

ABOUT YOU

- Experience in a previous generalist HR Advisor or Coordinator role

- Strong understanding of the Fair Work Act, NES and modern awards

- Confidence applying policies and award conditions to practical situations

- Excellent organisation and attention to detail

- Clear, respectful communication and professional judgement

- Comfortable working independently in a remote setting

- Problem solving skills with a growth mindset

- Ambitious with a drive to learn and grow your career

- Preferred experience using ELMO and Culture Amp

- Ideally, familiarity with SCHADS and supporting a casual workforce
