You're passionate about a career delivering solutions that impact millions.
You've been looking for an opportunity to influence policies, initiatives, and projects that can improve the lives of millions of people.
In this role, you'll:
Work as part of a dedicated commercial and property‑focused legal team delivering high‑quality, solutions‑oriented legal services to support Transport for NSW's regional rail operations and infrastructure programs. You'll contribute to legal research, contract and statutory interpretation, property‑related negotiations, and the delivery of clear, practical advice that underpins Transport's engagement with regional rail stakeholders, landowners and communities across NSW.
You'll work closely with internal clients on a broad range of property matters including leases and licences for operational rail land, compulsory acquisitions, land access and use arrangements, corridor management, property transactions, rail interface agreements, and property issues associated with regional rail service delivery and project development. You'll collaborate with other lawyers and multidisciplinary project teams to shape solutions that balance operational needs, stakeholder expectations and statutory requirements, supporting consistent and effective decision‑making across the organisation.
This Newcastle‑based role (with hybrid flexibility) offers the opportunity to work on meaningful, region‑shaping property matters across NSW's rail network, deepening your expertise in government property law and rail corridor management within a supportive and high‑performing legal environment.

About You
You bring 1–2 years post‑admission experience, ideally in property, commercial, planning or infrastructure law, and you are motivated to build specialist capability in rail and transport‑related property matters. Your strong attention to detail, analytical ability and practical problem‑solving skills enable you to deliver timely, high‑quality advice in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
You communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and in person, and you can explain detailed legal concepts to non‑legal stakeholders. You model integrity and professionalism, contribute positively to team culture, and build trusted relationships with clients — including operational staff, project teams and regional rail stakeholders.
You work well independently while also thriving in collaborative team settings, bringing energy, flexibility and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for customers and communities. You hold a current NSW practising certificate and are passionate about supporting the delivery of safe, reliable, and future‑focused regional rail services for NSW.
