Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Operations Manager to lead our irrigation team and drive water efficiency, tree health, and system reliability at one of our high-performing farms.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on role with real impact, where you will oversee the planning, scheduling, and operation of our irrigation systems. You will work closely with a team to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate daily irrigation and fertigation programs to optimize crop yields and reduce water usage.
* Monitor soil moisture, telemetry data, and environmental conditions to inform irrigation schedules and improve water efficiency.
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot pumps, valves, filters, PLCs, and drip systems to ensure optimal performance.
* Conduct regular preventative and reactive maintenance on all irrigation infrastructure to prevent downtime and ensure safety.
* Manage and train the irrigation team to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
* Maintain accurate records and reports of irrigation activities, including water usage and fertiliser inventory.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in irrigation management, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
* Strong understanding of irrigation systems, including pumps, valves, filters, and PLCs.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team.
* Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations, including those related to water use and safety.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on problem-solving and troubleshooting.
