Telephonist Job Description
Hunter New England Local Health District seeks a skilled Telephonist to manage the main hospital phone line and assist patients and carers. As a Telephonist, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multitask and solve problems efficiently.
1. Manage the main hospital phone line and direct enquiries to the appropriate wards.
2. Assist patients and carers with admissions, discharges, and general enquiries.
3. Enter patient details accurately into hospital systems.
4. Process payments and transactions, including for overseas visitors.
5. Follow up with health funds and collate required documentation.
6. Perform general administrative duties such as filing, documentation, and other clerical tasks.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a polite, friendly, and professional approach to every interaction.
* A team player with a willingness to learn, able to multitask and solve problems efficiently, and handle sensitive or challenging conversations with empathy and discretion.
