The role

The Manager leads and manages the planning and delivery of Council's Economic and Cultural services through:

* Development of strategies, policies and guidelines in accordance with Councils long term strategic direction
* Liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders including representing the organisation on relevant boards and committees when requested
* Management of the annual unit budget
* Providing leadership, guidance and supporting the development of staff
* Developing and maintaining the trust and confidence of staff, Councillors, the Mount Alexander Shire community and our partners
* Interpreting and managing legislation and regulation requirements

As a member of the leadership team, you will work closely with other senior staff to create and maintain a culture that supports high levels of staff engagement and performance.

* Substantial knowledge, experience and a proven track record as an effective leader in a similar senior role
* A sound understanding of key pressures and opportunities impacting on regional Victoria, the local government sector and the business areas within the organisation.
* Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to work effectively in a complex, political environment.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
