**An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join the committed team at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to live and work in a desirable coastal location.**

**This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 under the **NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme**.**

**The package is in addition to award entitlements and **accommodation assistance and recognises the critical **role health workers play in the delivery of rural health services.**

**About the Role**

**About the Department**

The maternity unit at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is currently a level three role delineation, delivering over 800 babies a year. The service is building to increase the Obstetric service to level 4 to increase the maternity number of services that the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department can offer local residents. Colposcopy and Day Assessment clinics have been established to enhance service provision and planning has commenced on developing an Early Pregnancy Assessment Service.

The Department provides gynaecological services to the region with support for gynaecological oncology from Royal Women's Hospital, Randwick. There is also the availability to the operating theatre, including opportunities to enhance skills in obstetric imaging depending on the career focus of the successful applicant.

**About the Hospital**

Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy acute care facility with 211 beds, which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that incorporates High Dependency and Coronary Care beds and also provides Emergency Department services. As well as these clinical services, the hospital has a busy Obstetric Unit, and also provides services for children under 16 years of age.

The Shoalhaven Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong and supports the training of Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff. As such there are teaching and research opportunities through the UOW Graduate School of Medicine.

**Advanced Trainees that are expected to receive FRANZCOG within 6 months may be considered for this role.**

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

**Selection Criteria**
- Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Extensive experience at a senior O&G specialist level with demonstration of competency working independently with complex emergencies and limited support.
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of
