About the Role
You will work as part of a dedicated field team conducting surveillance, mapping, treatment, and eradication activities in rainforest and remote environments.
Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting field surveillance and treatment in rainforest terrain
* Safely using tools such as machetes, spray units, chainsaws, and GPS equipment
* Walking long distances daily (up to ~15 km), including steep and challenging terrain
* Carrying equipment, food, and water for full-day field operations
* Collecting GPS data, samples, and project records
* Supporting team-based field operations, including safety and emergency responses
* Communicating with landholders, stakeholders, and program staff
* Working safely in tropical conditions and around wildlife and hazardous flora
Work Conditions
* Monday to Friday, early starts from 6am
* Hours may vary depending on weather conditions
* Wet-season work required
* Roles available year-round until, with potential extension
* Local applicants from South Johnstone, Innisfail and surrounding areas encouraged to apply
About You
* You're practical, resilient, safety-focused, and comfortable working in demanding outdoor environments.
You must have:
* Experience in intensive outdoor or field-based work (bushland, rainforest, labouring or similar)
* Strong physical endurance and ability to work in harsh weather and terrain
* A strong commitment to Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)
* A current open manual QLD C-Class licence and reliable transport
* Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol testing and a Physical Functional Assessment
* Ability to obtain and pass a National Police Check
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency (proof required)
