Wood requires an engaging, people-oriented business leader to join our Asia-Pacific Operations team as the Vice President of Technical. Reporting to the President of Operations for Asia-Pacific, this individual will be responsible for leading the oversight, technical assurance, and governance of all project and contract delivery across the region. To be successful the individual must be self-motivated and have strong commercial knowledge, whilst ideally demonstrating high levels of emotional intelligence and collaborative skills to work across Wood.
Key focus areas include:
1. Oversight of technical functions;
2. Development and oversight of the technical network (GTEN) within the region, sharing technical best practices and specialist knowledge;
3. Ownership and delivery of technical procedures, processes, and tools to drive consistent execution and continuous improvement;
4. Management of the Technical Governance process including internal reporting and dashboards;
5. Common and consistent control and mitigation of technical risks throughout the project/contract lifecycle, with similar emphasis on achieving opportunities and innovation;
6. Common reporting and review practices to facilitate early intervention where necessary;
7. Support to the Lead review and Tender review processes; and
8. Enterprise approach to interface with Consulting and Projects BUs; Business Lines, Centres of excellence and Operating Centres to ensure complementary approaches.
9. Responsible for technical delivery across the region, demonstrating proactive leadership to drive high performance across elements including safety, operational, people and cultural, ethical, financial, risk and opportunity management, safety, and general business metrics. This role has specific accountability for:

12. Driving technical delivery, linking with colleagues within Operations and across Wood.
13. Responsible for ownership and adherence at all levels to the Governance Technical Standard, enabling and verifying compliance with this and other relevant global standards in execution and associated technical delivery processes.
14. Providing direction and leadership for the achievement of strategic goals, vision, and shared values including stakeholder management, governance, assurance, compliance, and reputation.

16. Lead the establishment of strong and enduring high-level relationships with customers, partners, government / regulators, delivery functions and other stakeholders to ensure strategy delivery, and position for future opportunities as measured by customer satisfaction and feedback, health of the prospect pipeline and ultimately overall achievement of business and financial targets.
17. Stay up to date with market trends and emerging business within customer portfolio, sector, and industry.
18. Support the effective pursuit and acquisition of new business in line with company and regional strategy and targets.
19. Develop and maintain client relationships, proactively seeking and advancing opportunities to broaden service offering.
20. Promote, represent, and enhance Wood’s reputation internally and externally with clients, government and trade bodies staying abreast of industry developments across the region to ensure we are well positioned to secure new contracts that come to market.
21. Act as a focal point for Technical initiatives.
22. Ensure proposals and projects are resourced with suitably qualified technical resources in line with the requirements of the proposal and the project.
Performance Excellence
23. Set long-term direction for the Technical function.
24. Participate in proactively setting, monitoring, and achieving financial targets including margin, revenue, overheads, and cash collection.
25. Provide Service Delivery Assurance across all areas of responsibility ensuring robust leading and lagging statistics and KPIs to support and report on performance including assessing and proactively managing risk in accordance with the Technical Assurance Framework.
26. Identify and assess principal risks for the relevant area of responsibility and ensure that these are being monitored and mitigated / managed.
27. Ensure clear processes / reviews for identification and management of technical risks throughout the project /contract lifecycle.
28. Define and implement operational priorities, focusing on efficient and cost-effective practices, programs, and services, adding value to clients while ensuring appropriate governance of projects within area of responsibility including management of sub-contractors.
29. Give strategic direction to Technical leaders and empower them to take responsibility for delivering their component of the business.
30. With support from Technical leads, assure the delivery of projects in line with approved execution plans and contractual requirements; HSSES, quality, technical integrity, and schedule requirements.
31. Ensure consistent, timely and accurate technical reporting and analysis, and produce solutions to complex technical challenges, in doing so share lessons learned within Wood, driving technical innovation, improvement and learning.
32. Monitor the project / contract portfolio performance against the technical delivery KPIs, via review sessions, structured reporting, and dashboards.
33. Oversight of all Technical Execution Plans to ensure consistency and address any deficiencies; review and approve any proposed deviations from Wood technical standards and procedures.
34. Ensure end of project /contract reports and Lessons Learned are disseminated among the Technical community to ensure that lateral learning opportunities are maximised.
35. Responsible for competence assurance of Technical personnel.

48. Preferably degree qualified with additional Leadership development training.
