Project Manager Job Description
The Project Manager is responsible for defining and agreeing on project scope, objectives, activities, milestones, and timelines to ensure the successful delivery of complex project outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Adopting and customizing project management methods and tools to fit project and organizational needs.
Establishing appropriate project governance.
Monitoring and controlling schedules, resources, and budgets.
Identifying, documenting, and mitigating risks and issues.
Understanding the organizational impact of the project and ensuring plans/support are in place for successful change management.
Preparing detailed business run sheets and implementation plans, and tracking their progress.
Stakeholder relationship management, including identifying stakeholders, understanding their needs, and maintaining support.
Acting as the central contact point for stakeholders, building trusted relationships, and engaging with senior stakeholders through reports and status updates.
Managing risks through identification, documentation, and mitigation strategies, involving specialists as necessary.
Resource and performance management, including identifying resource needs, engaging with resource owners, and updating forecasts.
Encouraging skill development within the team.
Planning and managing schedules, addressing conflicting priorities, and ensuring plans are current and reflective of project status.
Defining and managing project scope and handling scope changes appropriately.
Must Have
Proven success in delivering large, complex projects within a financial services environment, managing interdependencies and competing priorities.
Strong communication, negotiation, influencing, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all organizational levels.
High emotional intelligence and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Nice To Have
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in Advice, Superannuation, or Wrap platforms, with cross-functional experience in Product, Operations, Custody, Finance, Marketing, or Technology.
Experience managing Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
Proficiency with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
A growth mindset and experience in evolving delivery practices.
