Volunteer Opportunity: Café Catch-Ups with a Friendly Local - Grovedale 3216
The Role: The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, connects volunteers with an older person who is feeling lonely and/or socially isolated, to build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness. In your volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide them regular social support visits in their home. Activities during your visit are based on yours and your clients interests and could include conversation, playing board games, listening to music or sharing stories. Get to know someone new and make a difference in your local community
Our Client: This lovely woman in her late 70s lives independently in Grovedale and is looking to reconnect with her community after losing her partner last year. A former Geelong taxi driver for 20 years, she shared the job with her husband and has a rich history in local life. Shes passionate about all sports especially cricket, football, horse racing and is a proud Geelong Cats supporter. She enjoys gardening, diamond painting, 60s/70s music and going out for lunch. While she used to love knitting, a shoulder injury has made that difficult. She's warm, easy to talk to, and enjoys chatting about almost anything. She would love a volunteer to accompany her to a local coffee shop for a cuppa and a chat, helping her get out of the house and stay socially connected.

* Lives in and around Grovedale or happy to travel.
* Possess clear communication skills
