Primary objective
The Program Facilitator delivers psycho-educational programs to offenders and undertakes administrative processes required for
efficient program delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitate, either solely or with a co-facilitator, the delivery of psycho-educational programs to assist with the rehabilitation of

offenders. Co-facilitate the delivery of offence related programs.
2. Conduct file reviews to ascertain criminogenic needs to input into the development of offenders initial Sentence/Offender

Management Plans.
3. Interview offenders to determine motivation for participation in recommended psycho-educational intervention.
4. Liaise with corrections staff, community groups and other relevant parties on matters pertaining to the rehabilitation of

individual offenders and where necessary individual Sentence Management Plans.
5. Maintain accurate, legible and proficient case notes, attendance records and statistics in a timely manner.
6. Respond to prisoner requests, in liaison with the Manager and other staff as required.
7. Facilitate referrals to external service providers where required.
8. Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team and participate in ongoing development and supervision.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge, understanding and proven ability to deliver programs to adults.
2. Sound organisational skills and administrative experience including a proven ability to concurrently co-ordinate a range of tasks,

determine work priorities, meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure.
3. A high level of computing skills with proficiency in a range of relevant computer applications or the ability to acquire such

knowledge.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and in a culturally appropriate manner with Aboriginal people and people from

diverse backgrounds.
5. Proven ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, willingness to participate in supervision and ongoing

development, and the capability and/or personal qualities suitable to work in a custodial/correctional environment.
6. High level of self-management and motivation, including the ability to work with minimum supervision, use initiative and display

sound work ethic.
7. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a busy work environment and across a broad range of administrative functions,

including the ability to manage sensitive and highly confidential information.
8. Willingness to work flexible hours and undertake some travel (light aircraft) to remote communities.

Desirable
1. Completed or currently undertaking relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Community Services, Social Work, Community

Development, Psychology/Criminology).
2. Demonstrated sound understanding of, or experience working within, the criminal justice system.
