Southern Stay is a proud, accredited not-for-profit disability support organisation serving Southwest Victoria since 1982. With a workforce of around 300 dedicated staff, supported by a Board of Directors, we deliver high-quality, person-centred services to more than 700 people with disabilities and their families across Warrnambool, Hamilton, Portland, and surrounding communities.

About the Communication & Marketing Officer
Based in Warrnambool, the Communication & Marketing Officer supports how Southern Stay shares information, stories and updates with its people, participants, families and the broader community.
Reporting to the General Manager, People & Client Engagement, this role is responsible for developing clear, accurate and engaging communications across internal and external channels. You will work closely with leaders and teams to produce well-researched, audience-focused content that translates complex information into accessible messages, while maintaining consistency with Southern Stay's brand and values.
The role includes responsibility for website content management, social media, marketing materials, internal communications, campaigns and events. A key focus is ensuring information is current, trustworthy and accessible, including the development of Easy Read and inclusive communication resources.
Who Are We Looking For?
You are a values-driven communications professional with experience across marketing, communications or a related discipline. You bring strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce content that is accurate, balanced and tailored to different audiences and platforms.
You have experience researching and shaping content using sound editorial and journalism-style practices, including sourcing information and presenting messages clearly and responsibly. You are comfortable managing organisational social media channels and digital platforms while maintaining an appropriate tone and editorial judgement.
You are organised, collaborative and detail-oriented, with demonstrated experience developing accessible and Easy Read materials. Experience working in the disability, community services or not-for-profit sector, and tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or a related field, will be highly regarded.
