About the Role
We are currently seeking dedicated
Personal Care Assistants (PCAs)
to join our dynamic
Emergency Department (ED)
team at
Cabrini Malvern
. This role is essential in supporting nursing staff and ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of patient care under the supervision of registered nurses.
Cabrini's Emergency Department is a fast-paced, 24/7 service staffed by specialist emergency physicians and highly trained nurses. While we do not treat major trauma or acute psychiatric cases, we manage a wide range of emergency presentations in a high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safely transport patients within the ED and to inpatient wards
Assist with transfers to other departments including radiology (including high-acuity patients such as ICU-level and resuscitation cases)
Deliver patient care under RN supervision (e.g., assistance with meals, continence support, and pressure injury prevention)
Provide continuous patient observation and report concerns to nursing staff
Support falls prevention initiatives in the ED
Respond to patient and family queries, escalating to nursing staff as needed
Maintain a clean and safe environment, including bed-making and restocking supplies
Uphold patient dignity and respect cultural, emotional, and spiritual needs
About You
This position suits someone with previous experience in a hospital or emergency department setting and a genuine commitment to patient care. You thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment and bring both professionalism and empathy to your work.
You will have:
Certificate in Health Services Assistance or equivalent qualification (as outlined in the position description)
Previous experience in an acute care or emergency department setting (highly desirable)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
The ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately
