This is an opportunity to join the Octopus Australia team in our Melbourne office. The successful applicant will help accelerate Australia's transition to a future powered by renewable energy and play a key role in delivering professional HR support across the full employee lifecycle, working closely with and reporting to the HR Manager.
Octopus Australia, established in 2018, is a dynamic multi‐disciplinary team of over 60 highly skilled people spanning the expertise required to realize and operate a renewable energy and storage portfolio.
Job Description
* Take ownership of the recruitment journey: manage recruitment logistics, pre‐employment checks, onboarding and probation.
* Support and enhance end‐to‐end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, employment changes and off‐boarding, always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
* Contribute to operational HR functions such as probation check‐ins, leave tracking and reporting, and post‐recruitment campaign analysis.
* Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and basic employee relations matters.
* Maintain and update HR systems, producing regular reports (e.g., absence, turnover, recruitment metrics) to inform decision‐making.
* Support learning and development activities and employee engagement initiatives.
* Ensure consistent application of HR policies and assist in reviewing or updating them.
* Support due diligence requests by gathering and preparing employee data and documentation as required.
* Get involved in key HR projects – from process improvement initiatives to supporting the rollout of new HR technology or engagement programs.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years' experience in HR operations or an HR Advisor role.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Law or a related field.
* Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES) and modern awards.
* Strong attention to detail and discretion when handling confidential information.
* Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.
