The Co-ordinator is responsible for delivering a trauma informed, culturally sensitive and a restorative Youth Diversion program to young people referred under the Youth Justice act NT. Sitting within a broader community development framework, activities engage young people and connect with family and opportunities for education and employment.
This includes providing case management to young people, providing links to supporting organisations and building strong community relationships to prevent further re-offending.
Key responsibilities
* Work closely with Department of Corrections, Youth Justice Officers, NT Police, Courts, Schools and other local service providers.
* Deliver a restorative youth diversion program based on bicycle skills and mechanics, healthy choices and community connections.
* Maintain detailed record keeping and case management notes.
* Lead a small team of dedicated youth workers.
Attributes
* Qualifications in Social Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention (min Cert IV) or equivalent qualifications in Community Services.
* Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
* Social research skills and experience developing and implementing MEL frameworks.
* Experience working with young people at risk, including those involved with police, courts, or youth justice.
* Understanding of the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work empathetically with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Demonstrated ability to organise, facilitate, and participate in a variety of activities.
* Strong administrative skills, including use of various IT equipment, devices and software systems including SupportLink.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Valid NT Drivers Licence, Valid Ochre Card, first aid Certificate and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
