About the role

Unitywater is looking for an experienced water engineer (Mechanical or Civil) to join our Growth Engineering Team as a Senior Infrastructure Planning Engineer. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to influence the detailed planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure across the region.

In this role, you will work closely with the strategic planning team to translate master planning outputs into detailed planning, options assessments, technical reviews, and solution requirements that support capital program development, major projects, and development services. You will bring consultancy or design experience in water and sewerage infrastructure, providing technical guidance throughout planning and design phases, and reviewing and overseeing design deliverables from internal teams and external partners to ensure projects meet regulatory, technical, and quality standards. You will collaborate with internal teams, Integrated Delivery Teams, and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality planning and design outcomes while contributing to process improvements and technical assurance across the region.


What You'll Do

* Deliver high quality technical assessment and advice to inform Unitywater's capital program, development services, infrastructure delivery and strategic planning.
* Translate high level needs into clear, evidence based technical solution requirements.
* Prepare planning documentation that meets regulatory expectations.
* Work closely with Sustainable Project Development through needs analysis, options assessment, cost estimation and integration of sustainability and innovation opportunities.
* Work collaboratively with internal engineering teams, Integrated Delivery Teams and external consultants.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems and planning approaches.
* Support major projects and ensure high standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance.


What You'll Bring

* Strong technical background in water engineering with great knowledge of water industry standards.
* Experience in the water industry consultancy sector with proven experience in the design of water infrastructure.
* Strong technical expertise in water and sewerage infrastructure across detailed planning, design and delivery phases.
* Proven ability to translate high‑level needs into practical solution requirements.
* Experience collaborating with internal teams, developers, and consultants to deliver projects.
* Ability to manage multiple planning tasks, stakeholder reviews and project inputs.
* Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering (preferably) or civil engineering.
* RPEQ qualification or be working towards it.
