Position Information

The Crescent School SSP is located in Goulburn. Our school caters for students K-12 with a range of additional needs, including intellectual disabilities, mental health diagnoses and/or Autism. There are currently 76 students, including 8 Aboriginal students, enrolled in 10 support classes. Our school is supported by a hard‐working P&C who provide resources and experiences which enrich our students learning journey.

At our school we take pride in setting high expectations for our students, challenging them to challenge themselves and grow academically and socially. We provide opportunities for our students to participate fully in our community and education opportunities beyond our classrooms through integration experiences, undertaking meaningful community access excursions and participating in extra‐curricular events whenever we can. Our students receive personalised education driven by the design of quality personalised learning plans and curriculum tailored to meet their needs.

The Assistant Principal hearing (itinerant) position is based at The Crescent School, Goulburn and is responsible for an administrative/teaching caseload within the Goulburn and Yass areas of schools. The successful applicant must hold a current NSW Drivers Licence and have the ability and willingness to travel between work sites.

Specific Selection Criteria

* Approval to teach Hearing or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Hearing qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education. Expertise in or willingness to train in AUSLAN and assistive communication systems and demonstrated experience teaching students from Early Intervention through to Higher School Certificate level.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, evaluate, and mentor a team of Itinerant Support Teachers (Hearing), and a demonstrated ability to manage caseload coordination, data management and communication across multiple schools.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with families, schools, and external agencies to build strong relationships with all stakeholders to promote positive outcomes for students.
* Knowledge of the impact of hearing loss on communication, language development, curriculum access and student wellbeing and the ability to deliver specific professional learning to the Itinerant Support Teacher (Hearing) team and school staff to facilitate effective interventions and improved student outcomes.

General Selection Criteria

* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.

Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus will be paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part‐time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus available for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.

* Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
