Speech Allied Health Assistant

About The Role

Our Capable Kids Next Level Program focuses on developing participation and capacity, providing opportunities for inclusion and increasing independence in the home and community for children aged 8 years and older. Building capacity is about achieving goals that are meaningful to your child. It is a collaborative approach between child, parent and therapists.

Goals Will Include
* Activities of Daily Living
* Functional Communication
* Social-pragmatics
* Executive Functioning
* Community Access

Essentially it is Allied Health Assistants working with your child in the home and community with a SP and OT developing and monitoring the program.

Since introducing this program in March 2023 it has grown to include over 50 children and is still in high demand. We have had 5 graduations from the program and all of the Next Level kids are smashing their goals on a weekly basis.

What You Will Bring To The Role
* Currently in your 1st or 2nd year of a Speech Pathology degree. - Essential
* Student registration with SPA.
* Current drivers license and ability to use own car for mobile visits.
* Current Working with Children's Check and Police Check.
* NDIS Worker Screener Check
* Current First Aid & CPR.
* Confidence in your paediatric knowledge, experience and skills.
* Strong problem solving, organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team.
* Insight and flexibility in your learning and growth as a clinician.

What Your Work Week Will Look Like
* Developing and delivering therapy within the home and community environments with children aged 8 years and over.
* Undertaking risk assessments whilst working with clients in the community
* Progress note, management plan and report writing.
* Developing and making resources to support your clients.
* Participating in weekly supervision and whole team meetings to support clients holistically and develop your skills as a clinician.
* Predominately mobile with potential for in clinic time too.
* Getting involved in our team lunches, dress up days and fun activities.
* Developing and running school holiday group programs.
* Learning through our internal PD program.
* Shadowing and training from our therapy and admin teams.
* Being an integral part of our Next Level Program.

You may also be required to work in our clinic on a weekly/fortnightly basis with children requiring speech therapy sessions.
