Job Overview
The House Manager role is a key position in our organization, overseeing the daily operations of Semi Independent Living (SIL) residences across the Gold Coast and Southern Logan region.
This is a hands-on role with most time spent on-site in the home or in the community. You will be responsible for mentoring a team of youth workers in providing purposeful support to young people in residential care with high and complex needs.
Your goal will be to enhance the lives of young people in the residential setting, incorporating a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach within the daily structure and purposeful programming.
* Build professional, trusting relationships with children and young people through visible interest and active engagement.
* Ensure the home is a place that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, and appropriately engaging and stimulating, to foster growth and resilience.
* Manage, support and provide reflective supervision and team meetings to a team of residential workers, and lead staff to work as a team in the best interests of children and young people.
* Undertake rostering of residential workers ensuring that risks are managed and staffing levels reflect the needs of children and young people living in the home.
* Coordinate the intake and transition of new children and young people into the home and the exit of children and young people to permanent homes or step-down services.
* Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar.
* Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or similar.
* Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.
* Experience in the co-ordination and management of 24-hour residential services for vulnerable people.
* Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team.
* Demonstrated capacity to manage crises and critical issues and deal with complex and challenging situations.
* Current Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence.
* First Aid and CPR Certificates (or willingness to obtain if successful).
