About the Role
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play an important role in supporting our ophthalmologists and ensuring every patient experiences a smooth, professional journey.
While the primary focus of this role is clinical, there is also an administration component to support our front-of house administration team.
Clinical responsibilities include:
* Conducting patient preliminary assessments (history-taking, visual acuity, refraction, intraocular pressure checks)
* Operating advanced ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, including:
* Heidelberg Spectralis OCT
* Zeiss Visual Field Analyzer
* iTrace Aberrometer/Topographer
* IOL Master A-scan
* Optos Retinal Imaging
* Oculus Pentacam
* Assisting ophthalmologists with minor procedures and intravitreal injections
* Preparing clinical reports and maintaining accurate patient data
* Ensuring clinical rooms are stocked, clean and ready for patient care
* Ordering medical stock and assisting with equipment sterilisation
* Supporting smooth clinical workflow and an exceptional patient experience
Administration responsibilities include:
* Managing patient reception tasks, including answering phone calls and responding to email enquiries
* Scheduling, modifying and confirming appointments
* Processing billing, payments and private health fund claims
* Supporting patients with general enquiries and providing clear communication
* Assisting the admin team during busy periods to ensure continuity of care

Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, Optical Dispenser or in a similar clinical or medical administration role is highly regarded but not essential – full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Remuneration will be based on skills and experience.
