About the Role
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will take ownership of the mechanical scope for the process plant. Responsibilities include:
* Leading design of mechanical systems for the process plant, including tanks, pumps, piping networks, and support utilities
* Providing study-level layouts, equipment lists, datasheets, and preliminary specifications
* Ensuring mechanical design accounts for constructability, operability, and maintainability in a remote environment
* Coordinating with process engineers to translate flowsheets into mechanical deliverables
* Overseeing interface with civil, structural, electrical, and piping teams to ensure alignment of mechanical packages
* Supporting the project controls team with accurate inputs into Class 3 estimating and scheduling
* Guiding and mentoring mechanical designers and junior engineers
About You
We are seeking a senior mechanical engineer with:
* Proven leadership experience on major mining or mineral processing projects
* Strong background in tanks, pumps, piping systems, and materials handling within process plants
* Experience with large milling and grinding (comminution) circuits, flotation, heap leach, solvent extraction (SX), and electrowinning (EW), preferably with gold/copper projects
* Knowledge of gold and copper extraction methods and how these translate into mechanical plant design requirements
* Non-ferrous mineral processing experience desirable
* Experience preparing study-phase mechanical deliverables (PFS/DFS) and transitioning into execution
* Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines to deliver integrated outcomes
* Familiarity with EPC/EPCM study environments and Class 3 estimating requirements
Roster & Conditions
* Monday to Friday, based in Perth or Brisbane
* Hybrid work options – up to 1 day WFH per week for lead roles
* Hours: 40 per week plus approved overtime
* Initial 12-month contract, aligned with DFS delivery
* Competitive rates – to be finalised in consultation with project and market benchmarks
