Our client is a New South Wales Government-owned statutory corporation that is responsible for supplying the state's bulk water needs, operating the state's river systems and dams and the bulk water supply system for Greater Sydney and providing licensing and approval services to its customers and water resource information.
**_They are currently looking to engage a Hydraulic Modeller for a 6 month contract based at Parramatta._**
The primary purpose of this role is to provide model SME expertise in water, wastewater and/or stormwater models and owns and maintains models and supporting data to enable customer centric asset management.
**_Technical accountabilities_**
- Ensure regulatory compiles of models
- Ensures defined model life cycle plans are developed and maintained
- Development of new models
- Implements changes as required to the existing models
- Provides modelling expertise to the team
- Documents and provides support for upgrades to existing models
- Prioritisation of activities
- Continuous improvement in the quality and outcomes of the modelling services across the Asset Knowledge team and externally
**_Basic knowledge_**
- A degree qualification with 3+ years' experience or proven equivalent industry experience.
**_Skills_**
- Thorough understanding of model services, practices and procedures
- Strong project leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
- Engineering background particularly relevant to water industry
- Ability to meet project milestones and SLA deadlines for modelling output
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
**_Experience_**
- Strong knowledge of and experience with model types utilised across the asset value chain to model various scenarios, such as Water pressure across the network Wastewater network flow, odour and corrosion impacts, Stormwater quantity and quality etc
- Strong knowledge of and experience with Sydney Water hydraulic modelling tools (Infoworks WMS platform, OACIS platform, Mouse, TUFLOW, etc.) and input databases (Hydra, CUGS, GIS information, Maximo BI, IICATS BI, HYDSTRA, etc.)
- Proven working experience in use of models to assess existing system performance, identify performance gaps, and set performance target and benchmarks.
- Technical expertise in calibrating models for use as a planning support tool to undertake servicing strategies, detailed planning (options reports), investment plans, renewals needs assessments (and sizing), operational / shutdown planning, investigation of complaints etc.
- Experience in understanding interpreting business needs and outcomes and using modelling tools to provide information and advice to strategist, planners and other information consumers
